Whois Privacy Protection, at times also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the real contact details of domain registrants on WHOIS check websites. Without protection, the personal name, address and email account of any domain owner will be publicly accessible. Supplying fake details during the domain name registration process or changing the real info later will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her domain ownership rights. The policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS details must be correct and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by registrar companies as an answer to the arising concerns about potential identity fraud. If the protection service is active, the domain name registrar’s contact details will be shown instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting package from our company, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names as long as their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the registration procedure or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any moment later via the Hepsia Control Panel. The procedure is stunningly easy – after you sign in, you’ll have to visit the Registered Domains section where you will see a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered through our company. For each one of them you will notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” button, which will let you know whether the service is activated or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can turn off the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without difficulty. This takes just several clicks of the mouse in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you administer everything connected with your account. This is the place where you can see all your active domain names and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, using which you can activate, renew or remove the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code top-level domain name extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so that you will not end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
