An access log is a text file that contains a full list of all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script app and a site visitor opens just the home page, for instance, you might find numerous files inside the log. The reason is that there are things on the home page that are embedded - parts of other web pages, images, etcetera. These files will be listed inside the access log, so that you can get a complete picture of the way your website performs. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently termed "raw data" as well. An access log provides the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, in addition to the user’s IP address, web browser and OS. More info, including the referrer website, is oftentimes provided as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics created by your web server.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting

When you get a shared hosting from us, you'll be able to choose if access logs must be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. You may enable this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which comes with all shared accounts. Each domain you host or subdomain you set up shall be listed there and you will see an On/Off option next to each of them, so you can conveniently trigger or disable the generation of access logs independently for every single site that you have. You may save a log to your PC by clicking on the Download link that you shall see in the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link will be available even after you deactivate the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data compiled by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than a couple of clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function can be enabled through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done separately for every single domain or subdomain that you have in your account. Once you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click shall enable the log generation and another one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great efficiency. A Download link within the same section will allow you to save the created content as a text file, that you may then use on your computer. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
